Square Peg Workshops

Square Peg Workshops is a not-for-profit social enterprise committed to providing comedy and laughter workshops for social change. They provide fun, uplifting and stimulating workshops for businesses, groups of people and individuals and specialise in working with vulnerable young people and adults.

Square Peg are on a mission to change the world one laugh at a time. Dedicated to thinking outside the box, inspiring, motivating and empowering individuals using the core skills found in stand-up comedy and the benefits of laughter.

Square Peg Workshops are a refreshing alternative to the norm; they believe in getting people on their feet and offering personal development through fun and innovative techniques. Comedy Courses range from ‘Missing Rib Ticklers’ a stand-up comedy course especially for women who want to have fun with comedy in a supportive, non-scary, fun environment to ‘Comedy School For Grown-Ups’ a one day course, open to men and women, perfect for team building days or corporate events.

Earlier this year Square Peg’s creative director, travelled to Bangalore, India to study Laughter Yoga with the world famous Doctor Kataria and graduated as a Laughter Yoga Teacher. Square Peg Workshops now run free Laughter Yoga sessions in communities and Women’s Centre’s around the UK. The benefits of Laughter Yoga are endless from building confidence to creating positive emotions and improving communication.

Laughter Yoga is a revolutionary idea – simple and profound. An exercise routine, it is fast sweeping the world and is a complete wellbeing workout. It is the brainchild of Dr. Madan Kataria, an Indian physician from Mumbai who started the first laughter club in a park, with just five people. Today, it has become a worldwide phenomenon with more than 6,000 social laughter clubs in 60 countries.

Laughter Yoga combines unconditional laughter with yogic breathing (Pranayama). Anyone can laugh for no reason, without relying on humour, jokes or comedy. Laughter is simulated as a body exercise in a group but with eye contact and childlike playfulness, it soon turns into real and contagious laughter. The concept of Laughter Yoga is based on a scientific fact that the body cannot differentiate between fake and real laughter. One gets the same physiological and psychological benefits.

As well as all of this, Square Peg Workshops can bring your business a range of unique, fresh and innovative training courses designed to enthuse your staff and recapture their excitement about work. Square Peg offer a bespoke service, creating workshops to suit your business.
