Future Jobs Fund

The Government has launched a £1 billion Future Jobs Fund to which local authorities and other organisations can bid to create around 150,000 new jobs. These will be targeted primarily at 18-24 year olds, but some will also be available for other disadvantaged groups and unemployment hotspots.
The Fund will support the guarantee that from 2010 everyone in this age group who has been looking for work for a year will get an offer of a job or training lasting at least 6 months. The Fund will also specifically target 50,000 jobs in unemployment hotspots and anticipate that around 10,000 of the 150,000 jobs created will be green jobs.
