New £23 Million Poverty Research Fund
03/08/2009
The Department for International Development (DFID) and the Economic and Social Research Council are pleased to announce the second phase of a joint scheme for development research. The £23 million joint funding scheme will support high quality short to medium term development research on poverty reduction. As well as research excellence, all applicants will have to emonstrate that research outputs have potential impact on poverty reduction and relevance to decision makers. DFID and ESRC have identified three thematic areas for this call where work will be of particular interest.
These areas are:
• Security, Conflict and Development;
• Economic Crisis, Poverty and Growth;
• the implications for Development Theory and Practice;
• and Cities and Development.
Applications are welcomed from researchers based in recognised higher education institutions, research organisations or organisations with a credible research capacity in both the UK, and also worldwide.
The deadline for applications is 4pm on the 24th September 2009.
