Asda CEO and rugby club chief honoured by University of Salford

Andy Bond, president and chief executive of Asda Walmart and John Wilkinson, chairman of rugby league club Salford City Reds, are to receive honorary degrees from the University of Salford in July.
After graduating in engineering from Salford in 1987, Bond went on to work as a marketing manager at Asda and became chief executive in 2005. He will be made Doctor of Science for his achievements as a Salford graduate and his services to retailing.
Salford-born John Wilkinson will be made Doctor of Letters in recognition of his services to the local and regional economy. Awarded an OBE for contributions to the city of Salford, John Wilkinson has been chairman of Salford City Reds since 1982.
